General Information about SoftWave

What is a SoftWave machine?

It is a new, highly effective treatment whereby high-energy sound waves are applied to injured, degenerated, and/or painful areas of the body to dramatically reduce pain and increase mobility and function. This treatment accelerates the healing process in the body by stimulating metabolism and enhancing blood circulation and cellular repair to regenerate damaged tissue. The healing energy wave created penetrates tissues and stimulates stem cells and growth factors in the body that are responsible for muscle and connective tissue healing.

How does it work?

SoftWave Therapy is a treatment involving Tissue Regenerative Technology that applies short, frequent, and high intensity bursts of energy into soft tissue that is injured, scarred, contains adhesions, is painful or inflamed.

What type of results are expected from SoftWave treatments?

Beneficial effects are often experienced after only one or two treatments. Many patients report immediate pain relief after treatment. Technology has a high success rate per clinical studies. Patients treated report being pain free and/or have significant reduction in pain. ESWT can eliminate pain, restore mobility, and improve a person’s quality of life. True acoustic wave therapy can also dramatically increase the results of other regenerative treatments.

What happens on the first day?

After completing your intake paperwork, you will have a consultation to determine if you are a good candidate for SoftWave Therapy.

How quickly will I feel results?

Many of our patients feel results immediately; yet the best outcomes occur roughly 12 weeks after a series of treatments!

Are there any side effects?

SoftWave Therapy rarely causes side effects. For some, redness and soreness can occur, but usually subside in a day or two.

Who is a good candidate for SoftWave Therapy?

Most people are good candidates for treatment; however, patients who have a pacemaker or are currently receiving cancer treatments are not always recommended for SoftWave treatment. Those who are pregnant can receive treatment in certain areas. SoftWave is very effective for people that have not responded well to treatments such as pain medication, physical therapy or even steroid injections and epidural injections.

Can I use insurance?

SoftWave Therapy is not currently covered by insurance; however, you may use your HSA/FSA card or CareCredit!

Can I receive chiropractic adjustments and SoftWave Therapy?

Yes! Chiropractic care focuses more on the skeletal structure and the nervous system. SoftWave addresses soft tissues and chronic inflammation. They work well together to help your body heal.

What does a SoftWave Therapy treatment feel and look like?

Your provider will apply gel to the surface area that is going to be treated. The SoftWave applicator is gently applied to the skin. You will hear a clicking sound as your provider moves around the treatment area. During therapy, you communicate with the provider to identify treatment areas and monitor progress. The treatment on average takes between 5-15 minutes.

A slight snapping feeling will be felt in your treated area.  While this is a snapping feeling, it is not necessarily painful in the general area.  However, our goal is to find the area with inflammation and treat that area the most.  In this area, you will feel a stronger snapping feeling.  The best way to describe this snapping feeling is similar to someone snapping their finger against your skin.
